Ceratophora erdeleniis distinguished from other Ceratophora species by having a rudimentary rostral appendage and a dorsal crest feebly defined or well developed, gular scales smooth, larger than the ventrals. The body color is changeable from light brown to yellowish brown, dark brown bands on body, the larger lateral scales with lighter margins, limbs with cross bars, venter yellowish green (Pethiyagoda & Manamendra-Arachchi, 1998).
This species is known only from a small Morning side forest patch in Sri Lanka, at an elevation of 1060 m; arboreal and diurnal. 2 – 3 eggs are produced at a time, measuring 7.2 - 7.8 x 13.1 - 13.7 mm (Das & De Silva, 2005).
Conservation status: Critically Endangered (Bahir & Surasinghe, 2005; IUCN, 2007).
