Distributed range & status
Endemic snake species found in Sri Lanka. There is a specimen of this snake in Natural History Museum, London and also another which was found from MAdurankuliya.

The mid body has 17 scale rows, which are not overlapped. Lateral scales are longer than the frontal.

Characteristics
The body is a bit long, & cylindrical. It lacks a distinct neck. Small, pointed, dorsoventrally flattened head is present. The eye is covered with a membrane. Snout bears a sharp keel. The tail shield is concave and circular, it bears tubercles.

Colour
Dorsal body of this snake is dark brown and all body scales bear a white ridge. Head is dark brown and the snout is dark orange. There is a dark thin line runs which runs from neck to anal area. The each two side’s two scales each strip is made of yellow or white colour which is also outlined by a black line. The tail shield is dark orange with a black strap.
