Distributed range & status
Endemic snake species found in Sri Lanka. It is believed that it’s found mostly in Sinharaja and Kanneliya.

The mid body has 19 scale rows, which are not overlapped.

Characteristics
The body is very short, & cylindrical. It lacks a distinct neck. Small, pointed, dorsoventrally flattened head is present. The eye is covered with a membrane. Snout lacks a keel. The tail shield is concave and circular, it bears tubercles.

Colour
Pre dorsal body is a bluish grey and post body is brownish yellow in colour. Ventrally and laterally it is a golden crimson colour.  All body scales bear a dark brown outline. Four white spots which decreases in size accordingly are seen on the lateral neck areas each side.  13 spots are seen lateral sides of the body each side arranged in a line. Tip of the tail bears a complete white ring and an incomplete black ring. The tail shield is reddish brown in colour.
