Distributed range & status
This is an endemic snake to Sri Lanka found from the south & mid country wet zones including Haycock montains near Galle, Kanneliya, Neluwa, Lindula & knuckles Massif.

There are 22 mid body scale rows present. There are 260-280 scales on the body longitudinally.
Characteristics
The body is very small, elongated, robust, thin & shiny. The snout is rounded & laterally wedge shaped. It lacks a distinct neck. Oval shaped, broad & small head is present same as the size of the body. The eyes are distinct. The nostrils are at the lateral positions. The tail is with a terminal spine.
Colour
The dorsal body is dark brown or black. Ventral body is cream coloured. 2 colours meet at a distinct line demarcation.
Venom
These snakes are non venomous are not aggressive.
