Distributed range & status
This is an endemic species to Sri Lanka. There are 2 specimens found by Taylor in Trincomalee is now in the Field Museum of Natural History of America & Kansas Natural History Museum.

There are 20 mid body scale rows present. There are 261-273 scales on the body longitudinally. There are 2 lateral scales.
Characteristics
The body is very small, elongated, thin & shiny. It lacks a distinct neck. Oval shaped, broad & small head is present same as the size of the body. The eyes are small & are covered with permeable scales, but they are very clearly seen. The nostrils are at the lateral positions. The tail is with a terminal spine.
Colour
First 8 rows of dorsal scales are dark brown colour. Lateral body has spots. Ventral body lacks spots & it’s a lighter colour. There is a light brown strap along the neck.

These snakes are non venomous.
