Distributed range & status
This is an endemic species to Sri Lanka. They are found in Peradeniya, Colombo, Namunukula, GAmpola, KAndy Giritale, & Gannoruwa.

There are 18 mid body scale rows present. There are 298-360 scales on the body longitudinally.
Characteristics
The body is very small, elongated, thin & shiny. The snout is rounded & laterally not sharpened. It lacks a distinct neck. Small head is present same as the size of the body. The eyes are very clearly shown. The nostrils are at the lower lateral positions. They cannot be seen from the dorsal view. The blunt tail lacks a terminal spine.
Colour
Dorsal body is dark brown or black. Ventral body is pale cream coloured. The snout & the anal is yellowish-cream colour. The terminal spine of the tail is grey.
Venom
These snakes are non venomous. Do not try to attack.

Behavior
They are mainly found in loose soil, litter, stones & decaying trunks of trees. They also have the ability to climb trees. When excited, they tend to move fast & an unpleasant odor is released from the cloaca.

They grow up to 120-140mm.
Food
The diet of this snake consists of small arthropods, & worms.
