Distributed range & status
This is an endemic species to Sri Lanka. The specimens ware found in Trincomalee by Taylor in 1944 & now kept in the Field Museum of Natural History & University of Kansas Natural History Museum.

There are 20 mid body scale rows present. There are 298-326 scales on the body longitudinally.
Characteristics
The body is very small, elongated, thin & shiny. The snout is rounded. It lacks a distinct neck. Small head is present same as the size of the body. The eyes are not seen very clearly. They are covered with permeable scales. The nostrils are at the lateral positions. The tail is short & blunt, lacking a terminal spine.
Colour
Dorsal body is light brown with dark brown spots. The ventral body & the lateral body is light coloured. The mouth area is cream.

These snakes are non venomous.
